1. Definisi Noun adalah kata yang menunjukkan suatu benda atau mahluk dan juga digunakan untuk nama, benda atau sesuatu yang dibendakan.

2. Posisi dalam kalimat, kata benda bisa menempati subject, object dan adverb.

Example:

a. Kata benda menempati subject:

- a dog jumps.

- Diana studies

b. Kata benda menetnpati object:

-She learns English

-She looks after the baby

c. Kata benda menempati adverb:

-I live in the village.

-She lives in the town.

3. Macam-macam Nouns

a. Concrete Nouns adalah kata benda yang berwujud, yang dapat dirasakan oleh panca indra, dilihat, disentuh. berdasarkan jenis namanya terdiri dari:

· Common Noun adalah kata benda yang menunjukkan jenis, kelas dari benda-benda, tempat dan sebagainya.

Example: city, book, dog, cat, etc.

· Proper Noun adalah nama orang, tempat, kebangsaan dan sebagainya. Proper Noun biasanya diawali dengan huruf kapital.

Example: Diana, New York, Jakarta, Indonesian, etc.

· Collective Noun adalah kata benda kumpulan atau gabungan. Kata-kata ini selalu berbentuk tunggal karena mewakili/ menggambarkan suatu benda secara keseluruhan.

Example: a box, a comb, a dozen, a bundle, etc.

· Material Noun adalah kata benda yang terjadi dengan sendiri-nya yang biasanya berasal dari bahan tambang dan barang bake.

Example: gold, silver, stone, etc.

b. Abstract Nouns adalah kata benda yang tidak memiliki wujud. Kata benda ini biasanya berasal dari kata kerja, sifat dan common noun itu sendiri.
