Adjective

1. Defnisi  Adjective (kata sifat): kata yang digunakan untuk menerangkan/ menjelaskan kata benda atau kata ganti.


2. Macam dan Fungsi Adjective

secara grammatical memiliki 3 macam fungsi:

a. Attributive Adjective adalah kata sifat yang menjelaskan noun yang terletak sebelum noun atau terletak anatara artikel dan noun.           

Example: 
-The small boy.
-The new book.


b. Adjective Modifying Pronoun adalah adjective yang menjelaskan pronoun.

Example:
-He is small
-They are very claver


c. Predicative Adjective dibagi menjadi dua:

1) Subject Complement adalah adjective yang berkedudukan sebagai complement yang menerangkan pronoun/noun yang berposisi di subject.

Example:
-Your daughter is pretty.
-The book is new.
-The car is new.


2) Object Complement adalah adjective yang berkedudukan sebagai complement yang menerangkan pronoun/noun yang berposisi diobject.

Example:
-He made his wife happy.
-He makes her sad.
-They make as happy.



3. Pembagian Adjective 

secara garis besar dibagi menjadi 7 bagian:


a. Possessive Adjective adalah kate sifat untuk menyatakan kepunyaan yang berposisi sebelum noun (kate benda).

-       She is my beautiful sister. -       They are my beloved friends. -       Your father asks you to do something. -       Is this your friend? -       Their house is burnt. -       They give their cars to me. -       Our books are very good. -       These are our farming lands. -       He gets his book from Uncle John. -       I borrowed his book last night. -       Her hair is very long. -       Her love is only for me.

b. Interrogative Adjective adalah kata tanya yang digunakan kata sifat yang selalu diikuti kata benda.

d. Distributive Adjective adalah adjective yang digunakan untuk menyatakan bahwa yang dibicarakan berjenis-jenis baik pada orang maupun suatu benda.

e. Numeral Adjective adalah kata sifat yang berupa angka dan kata yang ditentukan atau dijelaskan tersebut harus dapat dihitung.  Hal ini bisa dikatakan sebagai adjective karena fungsi dari kata ini adalah menerangkanimensifati kata benda yang lain.

f. Quantitative Adjective adalah kata sifat yang rnenyatakan jumlah yang slalau diikuti oleh kata benda.

g. Descriptive Adjective adalah kata sifat yang menggambarkan suatu sifat manusia, binatang, benda.
