3. Bolon House

Bolon Hous is a traditional house of the Batak tribe in Indonesia. Bolon house is from the North Sumatra area. Bolon house is a symbol of the identity of the Batak people who live in North Sumatra. In ancient times, the Bolon house was the residence of 13 kings living in North Sumatra.13 The king was King Ranjinman, King Nagaraja, King Batiran, King Bakkaraja, King Baringin, King Bonabatu, King Rajaulan, King Atian, King Atian, King Hormabulan, King Raondop, King Rahalim, King Karel Tanjung and King Mogam. There are several types of Bolon houses in the Batak community, namely the Bolon Toba house, the Bolon Simalungun house, the Bolon Karo house, the Bolon Mandailing house, the Bolon Pakpak house, the Bolon Angkola house. Each house has its own characteristics. Unfortunately, currently the number of Bolon houses does not need to be too many types of Bolon houses are hard to find. Currently, bolon houses are a tourist attraction in North Sumatra. Rumah Bolon is one of Indonesia's cultures that must be preserved.
Bolon House has a very unique design, as you see in the picture. Bolon House has a rectangular shape. Bolon House has a model like a stilt house. This house has a height of about 1.75 meters from the ground. The height of the Bolon house causes the occupants of the house or guests who want to enter the house to use stairs. Bolon house stairs are located in the middle of the body of the house. This results if guests or residents of the house have to bend down to walk to the stairs. The inside of the Bolon house is a large, open space without a room. The rectangular house is supported by supporting poles. These poles support every corner of the house including the floor of the Bolon house. The Bolon House has curved roofs on the front and rear. The Bolon house has a roof shaped like a horse saddle.
Bolon house has very special characters. The floor of the Bolon house is made of boards and the roof of the Bolon house is made of palm fiber or thatched leaves. You can imagine how the air feels if the floor and the roof made of wood and palm fiber. the air fresh and you don't need to use air conditioner if it is in a hot place. The inside of the Bolon house is a large room that is not divided into rooms. However, that does not mean that there is no division of space in the Bolon house. The room is divided into three parts, namely jabu bona or the back room in the right hand corner, the jabu soding room located in the left hand corner facing jabu bona, the jabu suhat room in the front left corner, the slap room in the jabu suhat , and Jabu Tongatonga's room Jabu Bona. Jabu Bona room is reserved for the family head of the house. The jabu soding room is reserved for the house owner's daughter, where the guests' wives come and the place for traditional ceremonies. The jabu suhat room is reserved for the eldest married son. The plate-slapping room is a room for guests. [3] Jabu Tongatonga's room Jabu Bona is reserved for large families. Most of the Bolon houses are made of wood. Bolon House does not use nails. Rumah Bolon only uses ropes to bring together house materials. This rope is fastened to wood so that the framework of the house is not loose or collapsed one day. On the body of the Bolon house there are various carvings and images that have meaning in accordance with the lives of the Batak people.
