Question Tag penjelasan dan contoh
Question Tag adalah suatu ungkapan yang digunakan oleh seseorang untuk memberikan pertanyaan dan meminta orang lain yang diajak bicara, setuju dengan pendapatnya. Dalam bahasa Indonesia mirip dengan kata "bukan" dalam suatu kalimat, misalnya :
Aturan-aturan membuat Question Tags :
a. Aturan 1: Apabila pernyataan positif, maka Tag-nya negatif.
Contoh :
- We shall be late, shan't we ?
- Ali can swim, can't he ?
- She is reading a book, isn't she ?
b. Aturan 2, Apabila pernyataan negatif, maka Tag-nya positif.
Contoh :
- Ali can't swim, can he ?
- We aren't happy, are we ?
- She doesn't visit you, does she ?
c. Aturan 3, Subject yang dapat digunakan dalam question Tags, hanyalah I, You, She, he, It, We, They, There.
IT : biasanya dalam Question Tags untuk menunjukkan pada kata-kata berikut :
- everything
- nothing
- anything
- this ......
- that .....Etc.
THEY : biasanya digunakan dalam Question Tags untuk menunjuk pada kata-kata berikut :
- everyone
- someone
- some body
- no one
- nobody
- people
- these / those
Contoh : - Everything is ready, isn't it ?
- Some one is calling you, aren't they ?
- Everybody knows him, don't they ?
- This is not my book, is it ?
d. Aturan 4: Dalam kalimat verbal (predikatnya berupa kata kerja) yang berbentuk Simple Present dan Past Tense, tambahkanlah do, does, and did untuk membuat Question Tags-nya.
Contoh:
- They want to help you, don't they ?
- She invited you yesterday, didn't she ?
- He likes fishing, doesn't he ?
e. Aturan 5: Dalam pertanyaan : I am —> Q.Tags-nya : Aren't I ?. (bukan: Am not I ?) Contoh:
- I am a student, aren't I ? bukan Am not I ?
- I am working hard, aren't I ?
f. Aturan 6: Kata-kata yang mengandung arti negatif (not) atau setengah negatif, Question Tags-nya selalu positif.
Beberapa diantaranya ialah:
- Seldom/ rarely = jarang
- Never = tidak pernah.
- hardly ever/ barely/ scarcely= hampir tidak pernah
- by no mean= sama sekali tidak
- few / little= sedikit
- no/none= not any
Contoh:
- He has never been in Bali, has he?
- Few students spoke English, did they?
- He has read no book, has he?
- They seldom visit her, do they?
g. Aturan 7:
A. Perintah, baik positif atau negatif (melarang). Question Tags-nya adalah will you ?. Contoh:
- Stop that noise, will you ?
- Don't forget us, will you ?
- Do it for me please, will you ?
B. Ajakan dengan : Let's, Question Tags-nya adalah Shall we ?
Contoh:
- Let's sing together, shall we ?
- Let's doit well, shall we ?
- Let's help Yanti, shall we ?
h. Aturan 8, Untuk kalimat majemuk, Question Tags-nya dibuat berdasarkan kalimat utama. Contoh: - I wish she could do it, couldn't she ?
- l believe he will come here, won't he ?
- I suppose he should have known that, shouldn’t he ?
